Our Commitment
ACE's global network encompasses approximately 16,000 employees in more than 50 countries. We are working to reduce our carbon footprint worldwide by monitoring our global activities and undertaking a number of initiatives to help reduce the environmental impact of our operations.
In support of this commitment, in 2007 ACE became a partner member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Leaders Program.
In 2008, we announced that we would lessen our impact on the environment by reducing our global greenhouse gas emissions by eight per cent per employee from 2006 to 2012. The pledge was made to and accepted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and reinforces our commitment to Climate Leaders. In December 2010 we announced that we had achieved this goal ahead of schedule.
In addition, ACE European Group is a founding signatory of the ClimateWise initiative. ClimateWise is the insurance industry initiative through which members work individually and collectively to proactively reduce the societal and economic risks associated with climate change.

Making a difference in our local environment
Every ACE office around the world has formed an environmental committee and is taking steps to improve its environmental efficiency from saving energy, recycling paper and plastic and reducing the amount of waste we produce.
In December 2009, the ACE Group’s North America regional headquarters in Philadelphia earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The building, located near Independence Hall in the city’s Historic District, is the only LEED-certified existing building in Philadelphia.
Read more about how ACE is working to improve our environment in a 2008 article in Impact Magazine, from the US Insurance Information Institute titled 'Rising To The Challenge Of Building A Green Environment'.
ACE employees throughout the globe are involved in local community activities and the philanthropic activities of the ACE Foundations target the environment as a core area of focus. Since 2005 the ACE Foundations have championed land conservation projects through the ACE Land Legacy Fund which has been backed by grants totalling more than $500,000.
